Date of Visit: November 26, 2021
Like many others who fancy themselves writers, I am also an avid reader. Luckily for me, there are some amazing book stores to explore across the state. One that stands out among them is Baldwin’s Book Barn.
Located near West Chester, Baldwin’s is exactly what the name suggests, a large barn filled with books from top to bottom.
Most of the inventory is used, meaning there’s an ever-changing selection of fiction titles and nonfiction books about every imaginable topic.
The main entrance is in a small, one-story addition to the barn. It’s here that you’ll find the rarer and more collectible books, as well as the cashier ready to help you at check-out or point you to the right place for what you’re looking for.
And you may need a little help because the barn is a three-floor maze of hallways, rooms and stairways with several dead-ends along the way.
But that’s half the fun of visiting – getting lost amongst all the floor-to-ceiling shelves of books.
Along the way, you’ll find wooden chairs for taking a seat and test-driving books before you purchase them.
There are plenty of books to browse for both adults and children, though the children section is comparatively small.
If you’re a bibliophile like me, plan accordingly because there’s a lot to look at.
